April Is Child Abuse Prevention Month
The month of April is designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Missouri. Thousands of reports of child abuse are received each year in Missouri. While the number of reports has been trending downward, child abuse still remains a big issue. Cara Gerdiman, with Kid’s Harbor, says they’re encouraging everyone to wear blue in the month of April, and they would like for people to display blue pinwheels……….
Gerdiman says Missourians are good at reporting suspected child abuse………
In 2021, there were nearly 55-thousand reports of child abuse in Missouri. That’s down from 74-thousand reports in 2018. Gerdiman encourages anyone who suspects a child is being abused to report that to the appropriate agency.
