An Osage Beach Police Officer is recovering after a traffic crash early Friday morning

An Osage Beach Police Officer is recovering after a traffic crash early Friday morning. Officers were dispatched to the area of Highway 42 and Highway 54 for a report of a driver traveling erratically. An officer was traveling eastbound on Highway 54, approaching the Grand Glaize Bridge, when he observed a vehicle traveling toward him. The officer activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to get the driver’s attention, as that driver was traveling in the wrong direction on Highway 54. That driver did not stop and collided head-on with the officer’s vehicle. The officer was treated at the hospital and later released. The other driver, 41-year-old Russellville resident Jesse Lee Koenigsfeld, refused treatment at the scene. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was contacted and is investigating the crash.
