Alleged car thief arrested in Lebanon

An investigation into a reported stolen vehicle from a Springfield business resulted in the arrest of a man from Springfield. David J Stevens was arrested in Lebanon after an employee of BMW of Springfield called to say that the stolen vehicle was parked in the 400 block of Bennett Avenue. Stevens attempted to run but was pulled to the ground by the officer.
When the officer searched a bag that Stevens was carrying, he allegedly located a straw with white residue and a baggie with white powder. The substance field-tested positive for the presence of Cocaine. Stevens is charged in Laclede County with Tampering with a motor vehicle, and possession of a controlled substance.
