A state audit has given the town of Dixon a “poor” rating for poor budgeting and lack of oversight. The audit describes Dixon’s budget as having been “drained,” dropping from just over 94-thousand-700 dollars on October first, 2020, to NEGATIVE 20-thousand-701 dollars two years later. It also found the city lacked policies for selecting vendors and lacked a formal bidding process. State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick says Dixon is working to put his office’s recommendations into place, but that city leadership has “a lot of work to do” to restore the town’s financial health and “regain the trust” of its citizens.
