A shortage of bus drivers has led to changes within the Waynesville R-VI school district.

Fewer bus drivers mean that fewer bus routes will be offered, meaning that some students may have to walk farther to and from their homes. Superintendent Hilary Bales says the district has had some new applicants come forward over the past few weeks, and the district continues to recruit new drivers. Bus transportation remains free, but Bales says families will need to be vigilant for the upcoming signups.

Bales also says that there will be some changes to boundary lines to better balance out class sizes at the elementary school level.

Fort Leonard Wood parents may request that their children be considered to remain at their current school by submitting a Student Transfer Request Form. Transfers are approved just before the start of the school year on August 22nd.
