A Newburg motorist died Sunday in University Hospital in Columbia after being injured in a Saturday evening one-vehicle traffic accident

A Newburg motorist died Sunday in University Hospital in Columbia after being injured in a Saturday evening one-vehicle traffic accident on westbound I-44 at the 192 mile marker.
The motorist is identified as 60-year-old Karen J. Simpson of Newburg. The highway patrol says she was driving a 2019 Kia Sorento without illumination devices when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, crossed the ditch before coming to a rest off of the north service road. She was transported by St. James ambulance to Phelps Health Hospital in Rolla and later transferred to University Hospital in Columbia.
