A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper was seriously injured Saturday after being struck by a vehicle in Crawford County, four miles west of Sullivan on the South Outer Road. The traffic accident occurred on Saturday evening at 6:20 as the trooper, 25-year-old Colby B. Townsend of Rolla was roadside checking on a pedestrian when a westbound 2017 Dodge Ram 1500, driven by 74-year-old William D. King of Cuba failed to observe the trooper and struck him. Townsend received serious injuries air evacuated to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis for treatment.
