A dispute over child custody in Texas County has led to the arrest of a man from Summersville. Texas County Deputies were called to Harlow Road in Summersville, where a man had a gun and was allegedly threatening to shoot a woman. When they arrived, officers found 38-year-old David Ortega on the porch. They report that Ortega refused to show his hands and attempted to hit one of the deputies, but after a struggle, he was arrested. Prior to deputies arriving at the residence, Ortega reportedly had been holding a pistol and a shotgun while threatening to kill the mother of his child and his brother. Ortega is charged with felony assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm. He remains in the Texas County Jail without bond. His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday.
