5-Year Old Dies in Accident

A 5-year old child was killed Tuesday afternoon when he was run over by a pickup truck. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports that the unnamed child got into the truck that was parked in a private field on a hill, off of Downy Road, 3 miles northwest of Eldridge in Dallas County. The child knocked the manual transmission into neutral, causing the vehicle to roll backward down the hill, ejecting the child out the drivers’ side door. The child was then struck by the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
