3 people are facing charges of drug trafficking after Benton County law enforcement responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle, with people standing around it, near Warsaw. When an officer arrived he began speaking with the individuals. The officer reported that while he was standing near the car he smelled the odor of burnt marijuana. The officer then began searching the car and reportedly found marijuana roaches and loose marijuana inside. The officer reported that he observed several bullet holes in the side of the car, and when he asked the occupants about it, they responded by saying “we live in Kansas City”. After allowing the vehicle to leave, officers found a leather backpack in the area where the people had been standing, and inside a large amount of methamphetamine. The investigating officer then sped away catching up with the suspects in the area of Highway 7 and the Mile Long Bridge. As much as 4 pounds of Methamphetamine was located during the investigation. Ty Shawn Carr from the state of Florida, Leilani Smith of Kansas City, and Login Pool of Independence were each charged with felony drug trafficking and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
