(Jefferson City)–The state Department of Agriculture says a 20-million dollar grant program for Missouri meat and poultry processors will increase food supply chain resilience in the Show-Me State. The 20-million comes from federal CARES Act funds. MDA Director Chris Chinn tells Capitol reporters that the funds will increase livestock and poultry processing capacity:

Chinn says the cost of meat increased in some cases. The grant money is for plants with less than two hundred employees and can be used for utility upgrades, packaging equipment, and capital improvements to expand capacity.
