2 arrested with drugs and body armor

A traffic stop on Saturday morning (2/3) resulted in the seizure of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine , drug paraphernalia, body armor and a gun. The traffic stop took place near highway 5 and Mount Horeb Road. The Deputy ran a check on the driver, 45 year old Joseph Riggs of Springfield, and learned that he had multiple active warrants. The passenger, was identified as 26 year old Yuriy Lyashuk and after observing multiple items of drug paraphernalia, both men were taken into custody. When the vehicle was search numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia were recovered, along with fentanyl pills, and fentanyl powder, meth and cocaine. Two sets of steel plate body armor, a loaded handgun and night vision binoculars were seized. Riggs was charged with 2 counts of felony possession of a controlled substance and is being held without bond. Lyashuk is charged with one count of felony possession of a controlled substance with a bond of $150-thousand.
