Police receive training to operate fire equipment

Lebanon Police Officers are being trained to operate equipment that is typical to the Lebanon Fire Department. This week officers received training on equipment that can be used for search operations. Fire Chief Sam Schneider said there are times when a police officer is first on the scene….

Chief Schneider, assisted by other team members, demonstrated the capabilities of a hand-held thermal imaging camera, another camera designed for search operations in collapsed structures or confined spaces and a piece of seismic equipment designed to help officials hear even the faintest of sounds buried under rubble. All three pieces of equipment can help during a search and rescue mission and can even aid in criminal investigations. Two more police squads will complete their training on Thursday.
