The opening ceremony and lighting of the nativity scene above Bell Bluff will take place at 6 o’ clock. There will be forty vendors and many family friendly activities, including a live nativity scene, photos with Santa, photos with the Grinch, train rides, and new this year, pony rides for the kids.
As always there will also be plenty of Christmas and Holiday craft vendors, free hot chocolate, cookies, nachos, chili, candy, and smores.
And Waynesville Mayor Luge Hardman says a special Waynesville on the Square commemorative cancellation will be available from 6 to 9 o’ clock this evening at the postoffice. Bring your own envelop with stamp to get the cancellation.

As Historic Route 66 will be closed to through traffic during Christmas on the Square, motorists can detour around the event by leaving Highway 17 and travelling through the City Park to access Historic 66 just west of the downtown Square.
